About the XL7
The XL7 is the three-row MPV Suzuki builds and sells in Indonesia. Where the Ertiga is the practical family van and the XL6 is its six-seat, captain-chair sibling, the XL7 is the raised, SUV-styled version of the same idea — taller stance, chunkier bumpers and roof rails, with seven seats across three rows. It is not sold in India. Reports point to a launch around Q4 2026 at an indicative ₹10–18 lakh (ex-showroom), which would place it between the Ertiga and the Invicto and put it up against the Kia Carens and Toyota Rumion. None of that is official: Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed the timing, the price, the variants or the India-spec engine line-up. If the XL7 does arrive, the interesting question is what it adds over the XL6 that justifies a third MPV in the same showroom — most likely the extra row and the higher-riding stance, which is exactly what buyers cross-shopping a Carens are after.
Expert Take — should you wait for it?
Treat the XL7 as a rumour with a strong pedigree rather than a car you can plan around. The Indonesian model is real and has been on sale there for years, so this is not speculation about whether the car exists — only about whether Maruti Suzuki brings it here, and when. Our advice: if you need a seven-seater in the next six months, buy the Ertiga. It is proven, cheap to run, available with factory CNG, and the money you would spend waiting is better spent driving. If you specifically want the raised SUV look with three rows and can wait out 2026, the XL7 is worth keeping on the list — but do not put a deposit anywhere on the strength of an expected price.
