About the Citroen Basalt EV
The Citroen Basalt EV is the electric version of the Basalt SUV-coupe, expected around December 2026 at ₹14-17 lakh. It would sit alongside the eC3 and the Basalt X in Citroen's India line-up, giving the coupe-styled SUV a battery-electric option. Battery capacity, range and the India launch specification are yet to be confirmed by Citroen.
Expert Take — should you wait for it?
A Basalt EV at ₹14-17 lakh would undercut the Tata Curvv EV significantly, and Citroen has shown with the eC3 that it will price aggressively. The question is range: the eC3's modest battery limits it to city use, and the Basalt EV will need a bigger pack to work as a family car.
