Kia Carens

The Kia Carens is a seven-seat MPV built on the same platform as the Seltos, sold in India in one trim, Premium (O), with three powertrains: a 1.5-litre Smartstream petrol making 113 bhp and 144 Nm, a 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel making 114 bhp and 250 Nm, and a factory-fitted CNG version of the petrol that makes 95 bhp and 123 Nm on gas. All three use a six-speed manual and drive the front wheels. Since the Carens Clavis arrived, the original Carens has become the value entry into Kia’s MPV range rather than its flagship: it starts at ₹11.12 lakh against the Clavis’s ₹11.39 lakh, and the gap widens quickly because the Clavis climbs to well over ₹20 lakh while the Carens stops at ₹12.98 lakh. The CNG option is the reason many buyers look at it, and it carries a ₹1 lakh premium over the petrol. Seven seats, 216 litres of boot space behind the third row and a 3-star Global NCAP rating round out the picture.
