Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV) & Tata.ev
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV), part of the Indian multinational Tata Group, is India's largest home-grown carmaker and the country's number-two passenger-vehicle brand. It is best known for class-leading safety — its SUVs and hatchbacks have earned a string of 5-star Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP ratings — and for leading India's electric-vehicle shift through its Tata.ev brand.
Sold under the "Drive NEW FOREVER" promise, Tata's range spans the Nexon, Punch and the new Sierra SUVs, the flagship Harrier and seven-seat Safari, the coupe-styled Curvv, the Altroz and Tiago hatchbacks and the Tigor compact sedan. Most models offer a choice of petrol, turbo-petrol, diesel and factory-fitted iCNG powertrains — one of the widest fuel-choice line-ups in the market.
Through Tata.ev, the company is India's electric-vehicle pioneer and market leader, with the Nexon.ev, Punch.ev, Tiago.ev, Tigor.ev, Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev. Its newer EVs use the dedicated born-electric acti.ev architecture for longer range, faster charging and features such as vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle power. Tata has committed around ₹16,000–18,000 crore to its EV business through FY30 as it widens the range.
Safety is central to the brand: the Nexon was India's first car to earn a 5-star Global NCAP rating, and the Punch, Harrier, Safari, Curvv and Altroz have followed with top-tier crash scores under Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP. Cars are built at Tata's plants in Pune (Maharashtra), Sanand (Gujarat) and Pantnagar (Uttarakhand). Now a separately listed company within the Tata Group, TMPV is targeting a 20%-plus share of India's passenger-vehicle market by 2030.
