About the Q9
The Audi Q9 is the brand's first full-size SUV and its largest production model to date, sitting above the Q8 as the new flagship of the range. Revealed internationally with orders opening in Europe from late July 2026, it is expected to reach India as a CBU import around March 2027 at an estimated ₹1.25–1.40 crore. At 5,310 mm long and 2,210 mm wide it is longer than a Mercedes-Benz GLS, and it is offered abroad in both six- and seven-seat layouts with electrically adjustable individual chairs in the second row. Audi's launch powertrain is a 3.0-litre V6 TDI with MHEV plus mild-hybrid assistance and an electrically powered compressor, driving all four wheels through a Tiptronic automatic and adaptive air suspension.
Expert Take — should you wait for it?
Should you wait for it? Only if you want the biggest Audi ever built and are shopping at Range Rover and GLS money. The Q9 is a genuine flagship — longer than a GLS, seven seats, air suspension and a V6 diesel — but it is expected to arrive as a CBU import, which is what pushes the estimate to ₹1.25–1.40 crore and makes it dearer than a locally assembled BMW X7 or GLS. Nothing about the India car is confirmed: Audi India has not announced a launch date, a powertrain for this market, or a price. If you need a three-row luxury SUV in the next year, buy the X7 or GLS now; if you specifically want the Audi and can wait into 2027, it is worth watching.
