About the Renault Duster
Renault's rugged mid-size SUV, now with a strong hybrid. Turbo-petrol or 29 kmpl E-Tech 160, from Rs 10.49 lakh.
The Duster is a mid-size SUV with a long reputation for being tough and practical. The range opens with a 999 cc turbo-petrol making 99 bhp, steps up to a 1,333 cc turbo-petrol with 161 bhp and a 6-speed DCT, and since 17 October 2026 also offers the Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160. That one pairs a 1.8-litre petrol engine with a 1.4 kWh battery and a traction motor for 158 bhp of system output and an ARAI figure of 29 kmpl. The hybrid comes in three trims, Evolution at Rs 16.99 lakh, Techno at Rs 18.99 lakh and Emotion at Rs 19.49 lakh. Every version drives the front wheels.
It is a five-seat SUV with a high driving position and 212 mm of ground clearance, and the cabin is well equipped, with a 25.65 cm openR link touchscreen and an electric panoramic sunroof from the Adventure Edition upwards. One thing to weigh before you sign: the Level 2 ADAS suite, the 360-degree camera and the adaptive cruise control are fitted to the petrol Iconic, and the hybrids do not get them despite costing more. The hybrid's boot is smaller too, 544 litres against 700, because the battery sits under the floor. It goes up against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara.
