Kia India just had its strongest August ever. The brand dispatched 29,042 units last month, up a big 48.1% over August 2025. And the timing is neat, with a new three-row hybrid SUV, the Sorento, landing on 4 September, right before the festive rush.

Kia India sent 29,042 units to dealers in August 2026. That's up 9,434 units, or 48.11%, over the 19,608 units of August 2025. It also beat July 2026's 28,200 units, a small 2.99% rise month-on-month. These are wholesale numbers (cars sent from factory to dealers, not final buyer sales). Still, this is Kia's highest-ever August wholesale figure since it started in India.

The Seltos is doing the heavy lifting. Kia says the new Seltos has averaged over 10,000 units a month since its January 2026 launch. That's a huge single-model number for the mid-size SUV space. The Sonet keeps things ticking in the sub-4-meter SUV segment, where buyers want a compact, city-friendly SUV. The Carens Clavis and its EV version add family-car volume. And the newly launched Syros EV has, in Kia's words, got an encouraging response, which matters as proof that Kia's electric push is finding real buyers.
How Kia stacks up YTD and MoM in 2026
Zoom out, and the picture holds. Between January and August 2026, Kia sold 220,991 units, up from 183,882 in the same months of 2025. That's 37,109 extra cars, or about 20.2% growth for the year so far. The month-on-month gain is smaller at 2.99%, which is normal, since August is usually a quieter month before the festive buying starts. Kia's reach has also grown to 910 touchpoints across 418 cities, backed by 137 used-car outlets.
What this means for buyers: stock, waiting, and the Sorento timing
Good news if you're shopping now. Strong, steady dispatches usually mean healthy dealer stock, so waiting periods on the Seltos and Sonet should be short heading into the festive season. If you want an EV, the Syros is worth a look, and Kia is trying to make ownership easier with buyback and battery warranty schemes. The bigger draw is the Sorento, launching 4 September with a diesel and Kia's first hybrid setup in India. So if you can hold a few weeks, the premium three-row option is nearly here.
