About the Jeep Compass
Jeep's five-seat premium SUV. A 168 bhp 2.0-litre diesel, and now a 9-speed automatic from Rs 21.99 lakh.
The Compass is Jeep's mainstream five-seat SUV in India, built locally and aimed at premium mid-size rivals. The 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel makes 168 bhp and 350 Nm, with a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed torque-converter automatic. Since 26 October 2026 that automatic reaches the entry Sport trim at Rs 21.99 lakh, which makes it the cheapest automatic Compass you can buy and brings cruise control and auto hold with it. Most trims drive the front wheels; the Model S (O) and Track Edition offer Jeep's 4x4 system.
It is known for solid build and for the way it drives. The cabin is well equipped, with a 21.3 cm Uconnect touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected-car features and six airbags on every variant. The Trail Edition sits in the middle of the range for buyers who want the rugged look, and the 4x4 trims at the top are the ones to have if you actually plan to leave the tarmac.
