Jeep Compass gets entry diesel automatic at ₹21.99 lakh in India

If you wanted a diesel automatic Jeep Compass, you had to shell out ₹23.36 lakh for the Longitude AT. Not anymore. Jeep has slotted a new Sport 9AT at ₹21.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the cheapest automatic Compass you can buy. The catch? It sits below the kit-rich Longitude trims, so there's a trade-off for that ₹1.37 lakh saving.

Jeep Compass Sport 9AT price: ₹21.99 lakh and where it sits

The new Sport 9AT costs ₹21.99 lakh (ex-showroom). On-road price will be higher once you add road tax, registration, and insurance, which vary by state. This is the entry point for automatic buyers. Till now, the cheapest Compass auto was the Longitude AT at ₹23.36 lakh. So Jeep has cut the automatic entry price by ₹1.37 lakh. The full Compass range now runs from ₹17.99 lakh (Sport manual) to ₹30.95 lakh (Track Edition AT).

What you get (and lose) vs. Longitude AT for ₹1.37 lakh less

The Sport is the base trim, so it carries less kit than the Longitude. For ₹1.37 lakh more, the Longitude AT adds more comfort and features that Jeep bundles higher up the range. The Sport 9AT keeps the useful basics, though. You get cruise control, auto hold (holds the car on a slope so it won't roll back), electrically adjustable mirrors, and a 21.3 cm Uconnect touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The question is simple: do you need the Longitude's extra kit, or is the Sport enough for you?

Diesel engine, 9-speed auto: specs unchanged

Nothing changes under the bonnet. The Sport 9AT uses the same 2.0-liter MultiJet diesel, making 170 bhp and 350 Nm of torque (pulling power). That torque arrives low, between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm, which helps in city traffic and on highway overtakes. It's paired with a 9-speed automatic (torque converter), the smooth type that makes stop-go traffic far easier. The Jeep also keeps the FSD suspension and Dynamic Steering Torque tech that help ride and steering feel. It's a 5-seat SUV, diesel only.

Features & safety: six airbags, auto hold, wireless CarPlay

For a base auto, the Sport 9AT is decently kitted. It comes with six airbags as standard safety gear. You also get cruise control, auto hold, and the wireless-connect touchscreen. Being the entry trim, it will miss some of the plush bits found on Limited and Model S variants. Jeep hasn't detailed the full list, so check the exact safety and feature sheet at your dealer before booking.

Compass diesel automatic price walk-up: Sport to Track Edition

Here's how the automatic ladder stacks up (all ex-showroom). The new Sport 9AT opens at ₹21.99 lakh. Above it sits the Longitude AT at ₹23.36 lakh, then the Trail Edition AT at ₹25.52 lakh and the Longitude (O) AT at ₹25.70 lakh. The Limited (O) AT is ₹26.90 lakh. At the top, the Model S (O) AT runs from ₹28.76 to ₹30.70 lakh, and the Track Edition AT tops out at ₹30.95 lakh. Each step adds more features and trim over the one below.

Deliveries, bookings, and the ₹29,900 accessory pack

Customer deliveries start in the second week of November 2026. You can book at Jeep dealerships and Stellantis Brand Houses across India. Jeep also offers an optional accessory pack for ₹29,900, charged on top of the ex-showroom price. It bundles ambient lighting, a dashcam with predictive safety alerts, all-weather floor mats, mud flaps, and exterior decals. The pack is optional, so skip it if you don't want the extras.

Should you buy the Sport 9AT or spend more for Longitude AT?

The Sport 9AT makes sense if you want a diesel automatic Compass and don't care about top-end features. You save ₹1.37 lakh over the Longitude AT and still get cruise, auto hold, six airbags, and wireless CarPlay. But if features matter to you, the Longitude AT's extra kit for ₹1.37 lakh more is worth a look. Also note the premium over the Sport manual at ₹17.99 lakh, roughly ₹4 lakh just for the automatic gearbox. For rivals, a Honda Elevate tops out at ₹16.98 lakh, around ₹5 lakh cheaper, but it's petrol-only with a 1.5L engine. The MG Hector diesel range (₹11.99–19.99 lakh) sits entirely below this new Compass auto. If a diesel auto with real off-road ability is what you want, the Sport 9AT fits the bill. Budget-first buyers who prize features should wait for discounts on the Longitude AT.
