The MG Majestor cruised through its first eight months at ₹40.99 lakh, undercutting the Toyota Fortuner by nearly ₹4 lakh at launch. That cushion just got thinner. JSW MG Motor India has raised the price by ₹1.50 lakh, but only on the 2WD versions. If you had your eye on the 4WD, good news: its price hasn't moved at all.
What changed: ₹1.50 lakh on which Majestor variants?
This is the first price hike for the Majestor since it launched in May 2026. The rise applies to the Savvy 2WD variants, both the six-seater and seven-seater. Each has gone up by ₹1.50 lakh. That works out to about a 3.7% increase. The top-spec Savvy 4WD is untouched, so the flagship version costs the same as it did at launch.

Here is the simple before-and-after. Savvy 2WD 6-seat: was ₹40.99 lakh, now ₹42.49 lakh (up ₹1.50 lakh). Savvy 2WD 7-seat: was ₹40.99 lakh, now ₹42.49 lakh (up ₹1.50 lakh). Savvy 4WD: ₹44.99 lakh, no change. Remember these are ex-showroom prices. Your on-road cost will be higher after road tax, registration, and insurance, and that varies by state.

Why the hike now, and why 4WD was spared
MG hasn't spelled out the reason, so we won't guess. What's clear is the range's price gap has narrowed to just ₹2.50 lakh, from ₹4 lakh at launch. Nothing about the car has changed. The features and specs stay exactly the same. In effect, the ₹44.99 lakh 4WD is now the better-value pick within the Majestor family, since its price froze while the 2WD went up.
MG Majestor vs Toyota Fortuner and Gloster: where it stands now
The Majestor packs a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel making 212 bhp and 478.5 Nm of torque (pulling power), mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 4WD adds MG's all-wheel-drive system with 10 off-road modes and an 810 mm water wading depth (how deep it can cross flooded roads). Against rivals, the Fortuner runs ₹34.76–50.46 lakh, and the Skoda Kodiaq ₹36.99–46.99 lakh. Even MG's own Gloster starts at ₹38.33 lakh and tops out at ₹43.74 lakh. So the post-hike 2WD at ₹42.49 lakh now sits close to a well-specced Fortuner, where earlier it clearly undercut it. On the kit, though, the Majestor still fights hard: panoramic sunroof, twin 12.3-inch screens, 12-speaker JBL audio, three-zone climate, ventilated and massage front seats, Level 2 ADAS (safety tech that can brake for you), and a 360-degree camera.
Should you wait, or does the ₹42.49 lakh 2WD still make sense?
If you were weeks away from booking the 2WD, the extra ₹1.50 lakh isn't enough to flip your decision. On a typical loan it adds only a few hundred rupees to your monthly EMI. The car's feature list under ₹50 lakh is still very strong. But if 4WD were on your list, this is the moment to act, because that variant's price freeze makes it the smart buy in the range. Either way, there's no facelift or spec change coming with this revision, so waiting only means paying the same for the same car.
