Tata noticed Sierra owners wrapping their brand-new SUVs in black the day after delivery. So it launched the Sierra #DARK, a factory blacked-out version, from ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The catch: it costs ₹20,000 to about ₹2.6 lakh more than the same trim in normal paint, and nothing mechanical changes.
Tata Sierra #DARK on road price in India: ₹13.99 lakh onward
The Sierra #DARK starts at ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Pure L petrol MT. The full Tata Sierra range runs from ₹11.49 lakh to ₹21.59 lakh (ex-showroom). Remember, on-road price adds road tax, registration and insurance, so budget roughly 12-15% more depending on your state. The cheapest #DARK sits ₹20,000 above the plain Pure L petrol MT, which costs ₹13.79 lakh. On dearer trims the gap widens, going up to about ₹2.6 lakh over the base-paint version of the same persona.

Tata Sierra
SUVWhat's actually new? Black paint, black wheels, purple stitching
The #DARK gets a fresh Friesian Black paint, named after a Dutch horse breed. Outside, it adds 19-inch Jet Piano Black alloys with a diamond-cut finish and tinted lacquer. The grille badging, skid plates and Tata logos all wear dark chrome, and the bumpers turn satin black. Inside, Tata calls the theme Violet Eclipse: black art leather (fake leather) seats with purple stitching and a #DARK logo on the front headrests. But that's it. There's no extra kit, no more features and no safety changes over the regular Sierra.
Sierra engine options: 105 bhp petrol, 116 bhp diesel
The #DARK carries over the standard Sierra powertrains. The 1.5L Revotron petrol makes 105 bhp at 6000 rpm, with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch auto). The 1.5L Kryojet diesel puts out 116 bhp at 4000 rpm, mated to a 6MT or 6AT. There's also a higher-output 1.5L Hyperion TGDI petrol paired with a 6-speed automatic. ARAI mileage figures (a government test, always higher than real driving) are still pending, so we can't yet tell you the frugality numbers.
Which trims get the #DARK look?
The #DARK isn't a new variant. It's a paint-and-trim package spread across existing personas. You can pick it on Pure L, Pure L (O), Pure+ L and Adventure+ L from the Legend Series, plus the top Accomplished and Accomplished+ trims. Each step up adds equipment in the usual way. The range-topping Accomplished+ gets electric driver seat with memory and a welcome function that slides the seat back when you open the door. So the #DARK just layers the black theme on top of whatever kit that trim already offers.
Sierra #DARK vs Skoda Kylaq, XUV 3XO, Venue
The rivals are cheaper and smaller. The Skoda Kylaq tops out at ₹13.65 lakh, which is ₹34,000 less than the cheapest Sierra #DARK, and it's a peppy turbo-petrol only. The Mahindra XUV 3XO spans ₹7.79-15.04 lakh and the Hyundai Venue ₹8-15.83 lakh, both compact SUVs. The Sierra plays a size up, with diesel on offer and that retro-cool glass-hatch design nobody else has. If you want the black look without the retro Sierra shape, none of these rivals match it.
Should you buy the #DARK or wrap a regular Sierra?
Here's the honest math. The #DARK is a pure cosmetic package, same engine, same features, same safety. If the blacked-out look genuinely appeals to you, ₹20,000-2.6 lakh saves you a wrap job plus the downtime and the risk of a bad finish. That's fair value at the lower end. But if you're stretching your budget, the base-paint Pure L pockets the difference, or you can jump a full trim level for real equipment instead of paint. The look is nice, but you're paying for garnish, not gear.
