Tata has a new Nexon on the menu, and it's a badge-plus-tech job, not a mechanical one. The Nexon Camo Edition costs ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and marks nine years and over 11 lakh Nexon sales. The real hook is a built-in dashcam and bigger screens. But at ₹9.99 lakh it lands right between a standard Creative MT and a loaded Pure Plus S, so the trim match needs a close look.
Camo Edition price and where it sits in the 21-trim ladder
The Nexon Camo Edition starts at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). That's a curious spot. A standard Creative MT petrol is ₹10.00 lakh, just ₹1,000 more. A Pure Plus S AMT petrol is ₹9.95 lakh, and the Pure Plus S CNG is ₹10.00 lakh. So the Camo slots almost exactly into the Nexon's busy mid-range, which runs from the ₹7.40 lakh Smart base to the ₹14.40 lakh top trim. The on-road price will be higher: add road tax, registration, and insurance, and it varies by state (check your local RTO).
What's new: Dashcam, 12.3-inch screen, two fresh colours
The headline ad is a built-in dashcam (a small camera that records the road). It uses the SUV's four surround-view cameras, records non-stop, saves clips automatically in a crash, and lets you view or send footage to your phone. That's rare at this price. Inside, there's a new 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital cluster (the screen behind the steering wheel). Outside, you get two new paint shades, Munnar Mist (a grey-green that shifts in light) and Coorg Cloud (a soft grey-silver). Camo badges sit on the front fenders, and the front seat headrests get Camo-pattern stitching.
What it keeps: Same engines, no mechanical change
Nothing changes under the bonnet. You still get the 1.2 turbo-petrol with 118 bhp and 170 Nm (torque, the pulling power), the 1.5 diesel with 113 bhp and 260 Nm, and the turbo-CNG making 99 bhp. Gearbox choices carry over too: manual, AMT, and the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, depending on trim. Feature kits like the panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, JBL 9-speaker audio, 360-degree camera with blind-view monitor, and Level-2 ADAS (safety tech that can brake for you) are still tied to the variant, not to the Camo badge itself.

Tata Nexon
SUVWhich trims and engines does the Camo Edition offer?
The Camo Edition spans five trims: Creative, Creative+ S, Creative+ PS, Fearless+ PS, and Fearless+ A PS. The Creative trim gives the widest engine choice across petrol, diesel, and CNG. But the top Fearless+ A PS comes only with the petrol dual-clutch automatic. So if you want the dashcam plus a diesel or CNG, you're limited to the lower Camo trims. And if you want ADAS on the Camo, you'll need to move up to a Fearless+ PS variant.
Is the Camo Edition the value pick, or should I buy the Creative MT?
Here's the honest bit. A standard Creative MT petrol is ₹10.00 lakh, basically the same money as the ₹9.99 lakh Camo, and it opens up petrol, diesel, and CNG freely. The Camo's real extras over a comparable trim are the dashcam, the bigger screens, and the two colors. That's it. If a dashcam and larger displays matter to you, the Camo makes sense, since buying a good dashcam separately isn't free either. But if you'd rather have a sunroof, JBL audio, or ADAS, a Pure Plus S (₹9.30 lakh–₹10.50 lakh) or a Fearless trim may serve you better for the same rough budget. This is a feature bundle, not a discount.
Nexon vs Nissan Magnite: why the Tata still leads on safety
The closest rival on price is the Nissan Magnite, which tops out at ₹11.13 lakh, cheaper than the Nexon's ₹14.40 lakh ceiling. But the Magnite misses a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, turbo-CNG, and Level-2 ADAS, all of which the Nexon offers. The Nexon carries a 5-star Bharat NCAP score with 6 airbags and ESP (a system that stops skids) as standard on higher trims. Against the Hyundai Exter (₹5.81 lakh–₹9.61 lakh) and its own sibling Tata Punch (₹5.70 lakh–₹10.67 lakh), the Nexon is the bigger, safer, more powerful pick. It's India's first turbo-CNG SUV too, which keeps a 60-liter twin-cylinder tank and still leaves a usable 321-liter boot.
