Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG G 63 Offroad Pro in India at ₹3.80 crore, ex-showroom. That's just ₹6 lakh over the standard AMG G 63, which sells at ₹3.74 crore. For that extra money you get real off-road hardware, not just badges. But there's no trim ladder, no booking amount and no delivery date yet.

The AMG G 63 Offroad Pro comes in a single trim at ₹3.80 crore, ex-showroom. On-road cost will be higher once you add road tax, registration and insurance, and that varies by state. The premium over the standard AMG G 63 (₹3.74 crore) is ₹6 lakh. There is no base-to-top variant walk-up here. You either buy this one version or the regular G 63, nothing in between.
What's new: Active suspension, roof rack, 20-inch wheels
The big change is under the skin. It gets AMG Active Ride Control suspension with Active Balance Control, which can adjust roll stiffness (how much the body leans) across three stages. On top, there's a Professional roof luggage rack with aluminium panels and a removable rear ladder for reaching it. It rides on exclusive 20-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke wheels in matte black, wrapped in 275/50 R20 tyres. AMG-specific bumpers, flared wheel arches and an aggressive front look set it apart from the standard car.
Engine: 585 bhp V8, 0-100 in 4.4 seconds
Power comes from the familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system (a small electric boost at low revs). It makes 585 bhp and 850 Nm of torque (pulling power). Drive goes to all four wheels through AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive, paired with a nine-speed automatic. It does 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds (how fast it hits highway speed) and tops out at 240 km/h. So this near-2.5-tonne box moves like a proper sports car.
Off-road hardware: 7-stage traction lock and a transparent bonnet
This is where the ₹6 lakh goes. AMG Traction Pro works in Rock and Sand modes and can control braking at each wheel on its own. It offers seven stages of locking, so you dial in exactly how much grip control you want for the surface. There's also a dedicated off-road display showing position, compass, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and the status of the diff locks. A transparent bonnet display (a camera view of the ground right ahead) helps when crawling over rocks. For a buyer who actually takes their G-Class off tarmac, this hardware is the whole point.
Features & safety: Burmester audio, Nappa leather, twin screens
Inside, you get Nappa leather seats and adjustable cabin lighting, including light around the air vents. A Burmester sound system with 18 speakers and 760 watts is on offer, one of them mounted in the roof. Two 12.3-inch screens handle the driver display and infotainment, running MBUX NTG7 with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The dashboard adds a repositioned off-road control panel for easy access. Airbag count, Bharat NCAP rating and any ADAS (safety tech that can brake for you) details weren't shared at launch.
Rivals: nothing else sits at ₹3.80 crore off-road
At this price and with this off-road brief, the Offroad Pro has no direct rival in India. Your only real internal choice is the standard AMG G 63 at ₹3.74 crore. That car gives you the same 585 bhp V8 and the same G-Class presence, minus the active suspension, Traction Pro and the roof rack kit. So the question isn't G 63 versus a rival. It's whether the extra hardware is worth ₹6 lakh to you.
Booking & availability: limited numbers, no dates yet
Mercedes-Benz will sell the Offroad Pro in limited numbers to keep it exclusive. But that's about all we know. There's no booking amount confirmed, no order-open date and no delivery timeline shared so far. If you want one, the smart move is to talk to your dealer and lock interest early, since limited runs sell out fast.
Verdict: for G 63 loyalists who go off-road, wait for booking clarity
The AMG G 63 Offroad Pro makes sense if you already love the G-Class and actually use it on sand and rock, not just for valet parking. The ₹6 lakh premium buys genuine off-road hardware, not stickers, so it's fair value in G-Class terms. But with no booking amount and no delivery date yet, don't rush. If you want exclusivity plus real capability, this is the pick; if you just want the V8 and the badge, the standard G 63 already does that for ₹6 lakh less.
