Most CNG 7-seaters make you choose: luggage space or a usable third row. Nissan's new twin-cylinder CNG kit for the Nissan Gravite is the first that lets you keep both. It costs ₹82,999 and is available across all six trims, so the effective starting price is about ₹6.56 lakh.
Why the twin-cylinder setup matters
Single-cylinder CNG kits in rivals eat into boot and third-row space. The Gravite uses two 25L cylinders instead, spread out to keep all 7 seats usable. Nissan says it retains full modularity, so you can still fold or remove the third row when you need boot space. The kit is BS6.2 compliant, ICAT-approved for safety, and uses 8.1 mm thick cylinders for durability. It's built and supplied by Motozen, sold through Nissan dealers, and comes with a 3-year or 1-lakh-km warranty. The CNG fills from the same lid as petrol, and switchover between fuels is automatic.
Which trim to buy
CNG is on offer across the whole range: Visia ₹5.73L, Acenta ₹6.68L, N-Connecta ₹7.38L, Tekna ₹8.08L, Tekna LE ₹8.53L and Tekna Plus ₹9.20L (all ex-showroom; on-road adds road tax, registration and insurance, and varies by state). Add ₹82,999 for the kit. The sweet spot is the N-Connecta at ₹7.38L, which lands near ₹8.2L with the kit and gets you the 8-inch touchscreen, 7-inch digital dial, six airbags and rear camera. The base Visia works if you only want cheap running costs and don't care for features.
Running costs and the honest niggle
The Gravite makes 71 bhp and 96 Nm from its 1.0L three-cylinder petrol engine, mated to a 5-speed manual. That's already leisurely, with 0–100 km/h taking about 17 seconds. Nissan hasn't shared CNG mileage or power yet, but expect roughly a 10–15% power drop on gas. So a fully loaded car on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway will need patience and downshifts. For high-mileage families doing school runs and out-of-city trips, CNG's lower cost per km pays off. Wait for real CNG mileage figures before you commit.
Gravite CNG vs Renault Triber CNG
The Renault Triber (₹5.81L–₹8.69L) is the Gravite's twin, sharing the same platform and engine. But if Renault offers a Triber CNG, it will likely use a single-cylinder kit that shrinks third-row usability. The Gravite's twin-cylinder layout is the only sub-₹9-lakh CNG MPV that keeps all 7 seats honest. That's its real edge over both the Triber and the pricier Maruti Ertiga CNG (from ₹8.85L).
