BYD is going big. On November 13, it brings Denza, its ultra-luxury electric sub-brand, to India. Two cars lead the charge: the Denza D9, a seven-seat electric MPV chasing the Toyota Vellfire, and the Denza Z9 GT, a fastback that hits 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. Think crore-plus money for buyers who'd otherwise import a Porsche or wait for a Lucid.

MPVBYD Denza India launch on November 13: what's coming
BYD confirmed its Denza brand will debut in India on 13 November 2026. Denza is BYD's ultra-luxury arm, sitting well above the Seal and Atto 3 you already know. The first two cars are the Denza D9, a large electric MPV (multi-purpose vehicle, basically a plush people-mover), and the Denza Z9 GT, a sporty electric fastback. BYD hasn't shared India prices yet. But given the global positioning and import route, expect both to land in crore-plus territory, ex-showroom. On-road cost will be higher once you add road tax, registration and insurance, which vary by state.
Denza D9 MPV: 800 km range, 103 kWh / 115 kWh battery options
The D9 is a proper luxury limousine on wheels. It's 5,250 mm long and 1,960 mm wide, with a long 3,110 mm wheelbase (the gap between front and rear wheels, which decides cabin space). That means huge legroom for middle-row captain seats. BYD sells the D9 as both a plug-in hybrid and a full electric abroad, but India is expected to get only the electric version. You get two battery choices: 103 kWh and 115 kWh (kWh is the battery size, bigger means more range). The claimed range is up to 800 km on a single charge, though real-world driving with AC and highway speeds will land closer to 550-600 km. BYD offers it in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, with India trims still unconfirmed.'
Denza Z9 GT fastback: triple-motor, 2.7-second sprint, 9-minute charge

The Z9 GT is the showstopper. It's a five-seat fastback (a sleek coupe-like body with a sloping roof) powered by three electric motors, two at the rear and one up front. The battery is a big 122.5 kWh pack with a WLTP range of up to 600 km (WLTP is a lab test, always higher than real driving). It does 0-100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, which is supercar fast, and tops out at 270 km/h. The headline trick is charging: it supports 1500 kW ultra-fast charging, so BYD claims 10 to 97% in just 9 minutes. That's quicker than a coffee stop, if India ever gets chargers that powerful.
Features & tech: dual-screen D9 cabin vs Z9 GT's AR head-up display
Both cars go heavy on screens and comfort, as crore-plus cars should. The Z9 GT gets a 17.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment, plus a head-up display with augmented reality (safety and navigation info projected onto the windscreen so you don't look away). It also packs electrically adjustable footrests for rear passengers, a nod to the chauffeur-driven buyer. The D9 MPV leans into lounge-style luxury with middle-row captain seats and a feature-loaded cabin. Full India feature lists and variant kit aren't out yet, so treat international specs as a guide, not a promise.
Rivals: D9 vs Vellfire and V-Class, Z9 GT stands alone
The D9 will go up against the Toyota Vellfire (around ₹1.32-1.52 crore as a petrol-hybrid), the Mercedes-Benz V-Class and the MG M9 electric MPV. Its pitch is simple: a fully electric luxury MPV with up to 800 km claimed range, versus the Vellfire's petrol-hybrid setup. If priced sharply, the D9 could undercut the Vellfire while offering an all-electric cabin. The Z9 GT, honestly, has no direct rival in India right now. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S (₹2.5 crore-plus) isn't widely sold here, and the Lucid Air hasn't launched. For now, the Z9 GT owns a space nobody else is in.
Bookings, deliveries & verdict: who should wait for prices
BYD hasn't shared booking amounts, booking dates or delivery timelines yet. All of that should come at or after the November 13 event, along with actual ex-showroom prices. So hold off on any hard-buying decision until then. Who should care? The D9 makes sense for wealthy families and businesses who want a quiet, electric alternative to the Vellfire for airport runs and long drives. The Z9 GT is for the enthusiast with deep pockets who wants supercar speed without the petrol bill and doesn't mind being an early adopter. Both are statement buys, but the real question, as always, will be the price.
