BMW M is throwing a birthday party for the Nürburgring, and India is on the guest list. The brand will offer '100 Jahre Nürburgring' special editions across five of its M-cars. The headline bit: one of them is the M5 Touring, a fast estate making its first India appearance here.
What is the '100 Jahre Nürburgring' edition, and why now?
The Nürburgring is a famous and very long race track in Germany. BMW M uses it to test and tune its fast cars, so the track means a lot to the brand. '100 Jahre' is German for '100 years', marking a century of racing history there. To celebrate, BMW is putting special commemorative badges and trim on a handful of M-cars. Think of it as a collector's edition rather than a new engine or new model.
Which BMW M-cars get the badge in India
Five cars carry the special edition in India: the M2, M3, M4, M5 and the M5 Touring. The M2 is the smallest and most playful. The M3 is the four-door sports sedan, while the M4 is its two-door coupe cousin. The M5 is the big, fast luxury sedan. The M5 Touring is the real talking point, and it gets its own section below.
The M5 Touring: a fast wagon, finally in India

This is the first time the M5 Touring has been mentioned for India. 'Touring' is BMW's word for an estate, or wagon. In plain terms, it's an M5 with a longer roof and a much bigger boot at the back. You get the straight-line speed of a super sedan plus the practicality to carry a family's holiday luggage. Fast wagons are rare in India, so even a limited run is a big deal for enthusiasts.
What's actually different: cosmetic or mechanical?
BMW has not shared full details for India yet. Based on how these commemorative editions usually work, expect the changes to be mostly cosmetic. That means special badging, unique colours, trim finishes and maybe numbered plaques inside. The engines and power figures are likely the same as the standard M-cars. We'll update this once BMW India confirms the exact kit and any numbers.
How many will India get, and can you just buy one?
Here's the catch. These are limited-run editions, so the number for India will be small. BMW typically handles such cars through allocation, often reaching out to existing M owners and serious buyers first. Don't expect to walk into a showroom and drive one out the same week. If you want one, talk to a BMW dealer early and register your interest. Delivery timelines have not been shared.
Pricing: what we know (and what we don't)
BMW India has not announced prices for any of these special editions. We also don't have confirmed prices or specs for the standard M2, M3, M4, M5 or M5 Touring in our data. Commemorative editions almost always cost more than the regular car they're based on, because of the limited numbers and extra trim. So treat any figure floating around as unofficial until BMW confirms. We'll add exact ex-showroom prices here once they're out.
Should you wait for these, or buy a regular M-car now?
If you simply want the driving thrill of an M-car, a standard M3 or M4 does the job and reaches you sooner. These '100 Jahre' editions make sense if you collect cars or want something rare that holds its value. For most buyers who want to actually use the car daily, a regular M-car is the smarter pick. But if you want the M5 Touring specifically, you may have to go for whatever version BMW offers, since the wagon is new to India.
