About the Tata Ace EV

The Tata Ace EV took the Ace, India’s most widely used small commercial vehicle, and made it electric. It runs a 21.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack driving the rear wheels through a single-speed gearbox, making 27 kW and 130 Nm, and is sold with a container body enclosing 5.88 cubic metres (207 cubic feet) of load volume. Range is 154 km and a fast charge takes about 105 minutes. It carries 600 kg on a 1,840 kg GVW and climbs a 22 percent grade. Rigid leaf-sprung suspension front and rear and dual-circuit hydraulic brakes keep it simple to run and cheap to maintain, and Tata quotes a running cost of roughly ₹1 per km. The high-voltage battery is warranted for 7 years or 1,75,000 km.
