MG is about to enter a brand-new space in India. The MG Hector Hawk launches on August 26, 2026 — and it is not just a bigger Hector. It is an all-new 7-seater SUV that will come first as an electric car, with a plug-in hybrid version following later. Pre-bookings are already open at ₹21,000.
If you want a large, family-friendly electric SUV with three rows, this is one to watch. Here is everything we know so far, in simple words.
What exactly is the Hector Hawk?
Let us clear the confusion first. The Hector Hawk is a new model, not a facelift of the current MG Hector. It is based on the Wuling Starlight 560 (sold in other countries) and is the first MG India car to use the new ADAPT platform—a modern platform built to support electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid power.
It has proper three-row seating in a 2+3+2 layout for seven people, with adjustable headrests for all three rows. In size, it is around 4,745mm long with a long wheelbase, so there is real space inside. Bookings are open now at ₹21,000, and the launch is on August 26. Sales are expected to begin around September–October 2026. Track it on our upcoming cars page.
EV first, plug-in hybrid later
Here is how MG is rolling it out. The electric (EV) version launches first, and the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) will follow later in 2026.
- Electric version: a 56.7 kWh battery with a claimed range of around 530 km on a full charge. Perfect for buyers who want a pure-electric family SUV.
- Plug-in hybrid version: a 1.5-liter petrol engine paired with a 20.5 kWh battery, making around 194 bhp. The big number here is a combined range of over 1,000 km because you can use both petrol and electric power. This suits buyers who want EV-like running in the city but no range worry on long trips.
This two-option approach is smart—it covers both the "I want full EV" buyer and the "I am not ready for full EV yet" buyer.
Expected price
MG has not announced the official price yet. Based on early estimates, the Hector Hawk is expected to be priced between roughly ₹20 lakh and ₹27 lakh (ex-showroom). The plug-in hybrid base variant is tipped to start around ₹20.6 lakh.
At that price, it becomes one of the more affordable ways to get a three-row electrified SUV in India. Plan your budget on our EMI calculator once prices are confirmed.
Design and features
The teaser images show a boxy, upright SUV with strong road presence. Outside, you get a split LED daytime running light setup, a black grille with chrome inserts, LED headlamps, large dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, contrast-colored skid plates, wraparound LED tail lamps, roof rails, and a shark-fin antenna. The EV version gets a closed-off grille and aero-style wheels for better range.
Inside, expect a beige cabin theme, a large freestanding touchscreen, a fully digital driver's display, and a two-spoke steering wheel. Full features will be confirmed at launch, but MG usually loads its cars well with connected-car tech, a sunroof, and a good sound system.
Who will it rival?
The Hector Hawk enters a small but growing space—affordable three-row electrified SUVs. Its main rival is the
Mahindra XEV 9S, and it will also tempt buyers looking at the Tata Safari, MG's own Hector, and other 7-seaters who are open to going electric or hybrid.
If you want a large family SUV, want to cut fuel bills, but still want seven seats, the Hector Hawk is genuinely worth waiting a few weeks for. We will update this page with final prices and full specs on August 26.
