Toyota's bringing the ninth-gen Hilux to India next month—just eight months after its November 2025 global unveil. Dealer sources confirm the launch, and this isn't a mild refresh: the new pickup packs a dramatically modernised cabin with twin 12.3-inch displays, ADAS, and a raft of features the old truck never dreamed of. Expect Toyota to price it notably higher than today's ₹28.52–36 lakh bracket.
What's new: design and cabin leap
The ninth-gen Hilux looks angrier—slim high-set LED headlamps, honeycomb grille, chunky bumper, and C-shaped tail-lamp signatures give it a sharper stance. Inside is where the real jump happens: dual 12.3-inch screens dominate a redesigned dash (complete with Toyota lettermark steering wheel), yet Toyota kept physical buttons across the console and tunnel. You get powered/ventilated front seats, wireless charging, dual-zone climate, 360° and multi-terrain cameras, blind-spot monitor, connected tech with OTA updates, driver drowsiness detection, and a full ADAS suite. It's a galaxy away from the outgoing truck's cabin.
Engine: 2.8L diesel + likely 48V mild-hybrid
The current Hilux runs a 2.8-litre diesel (204 bhp, 500 Nm) with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed auto, 4×4 standard. Toyota's expected to carry that engine forward on the same IMV body-on-frame platform but add the 48V 'Neo Drive' mild-hybrid system it introduced on the Fortuner last year. Overseas the Hilux is offered as an EV (59.2 kWh, 196 bhp combined, 240 km WLTP), though whether India gets that variant remains unclear.
Price and timing
Outgoing Hilux: ₹28.52–36 lakh. With a new generation's worth of tech, mechanical upgrades, and features, Toyota will almost certainly command a meaningful premium—think low-to-mid ₹30s at minimum for the base. Launch is locked for next month, making this one of the faster India roll-outs for a global Toyota debut.
