BMW Group India has brought back the X6 coupe-SUV after a three-year absence, and it's gone straight for the jugular. The new X6 M60i xDrive, priced at ₹1.77–1.78 crore (ex-showroom), is the only variant on offer—no diesel, no six-cylinder compromise. You get a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 making 530 bhp and 750 Nm, wrapped in what BMW calls a Sports Activity Coupe with M-tuned suspension, rear-biased all-wheel drive, and enough tech to satisfy the luxury-performance buyer. It's a CBU import, aimed squarely at those who want the presence of an X5 but with a more aggressive roofline and the kind of engine note that makes neighbors peer through curtains.
What's new—and why the X6 is back
The X6 was on sale in India between 2020 and 2023, then quietly disappeared. This is the facelifted G06 generation, and BMW has decided to reintroduce it solely in M60i guise—no entry-level variant, no diesel. That tells you the game plan: low volume, high impact, and a clear run at the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe and the Audi SQ8. The M60i badge sits below the full-fat X6 M globally, but in India it's the top dog. You get M Sport Pro package as standard, which means M aero kit, 21-inch M light-alloy wheels with run-flats, red M brake calipers, quad exhaust tips, a rear spoiler in black high-gloss, M seat belts, and Shadowline trim all around. The kidney grille is matte black with vertical double slats and an M logo; the LED headlights are slim Adaptive units with arrow-shaped DRLs. At the back, L-shaped LED tail lamps and trapezoidal exhaust finishers leave no doubt this is the performance model. Six exterior colors are offered—Aventurine Red, Manhattan Metallic, Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire, Mineral White, and Isle of Man Green—with over 40 more via BMW Individual. Inside, Sensafin upholstery comes in Silverstone, Tacora Red/Black, Black, or Cognac, and you can spec an Alcantara M headliner if you want the full motorsport-lite vibe.

The heart of the matter: 530 bhp V8 and 48V mild-hybrid
The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 is the star here. Peak output is 530 bhp (some sources cite 523 bhp, likely a rounding difference) and 750 Nm of torque, routed through an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox and BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system with a rear bias for a more dynamic feel. An M Sport differential further sharpens handling. BMW claims 0–100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, with top speed electronically capped at 250 km/h. The V8 also features 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance—a small electric motor-generator integrated with the gearbox that helps with efficiency and low-speed torque fill. Real-world fuel economy will be in the single digits (kmpl), but buyers at this price point care more about the soundtrack than the pump visits. Chassis-wise, the X6 M60i rides on M Adaptive suspension, Integral Active Steering (rear-wheel steer for agility at low speeds, stability at high), and an M-tuned setup that BMW says is engineered to dominate. You also get Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, and traction management—basically, all the electronic safety nets to deploy 530 bhp without drama.
Tech, comfort, and the cabin experience

Inside, the X6 M60i uses BMW's Curved Display—a single sweep of glass housing a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen running iDrive 8.5. The OS supports Digital Key Plus (unlock and start with your phone), real-time traffic, remote control via the MyBMW app, and emergency call assistance. You also get a head-up display, configurable ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, and dual-zone climate control. Unlike the full X6 M, the M60i comes with comfort seats up front—electrically adjustable with memory, ventilated as standard, and available with a massage function if you tick that box. The Harman Kardon 16-speaker sound system is standard; soft-close doors add to the premium feel. On the safety and driver-assist front, there are six airbags, a 360-degree camera, Parking Assistant Professional (which can auto-park and even reverse the last 200 meters on the route you just drove—handy in tight spots), adaptive LED headlights, and tire-pressure monitoring. It's a well-loaded cabin, though not quite as opulent as the full-bore M model's carbon-fiber and Merino leather fest.
How it stacks up: X6 M60i vs. GLE 53 Coupe vs. SQ8
At ₹1.77–1.78 crore, the X6 M60i sits in a tight three-way fight. The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe (around ₹1.7 crore) uses a 3.0-litre inline-six with mild-hybrid boost for 435 bhp—less power, but also less thirst and a smoother delivery. The Audi SQ8, recently launched, counters with a 4.0-litre V8 making 507 bhp, similar performance, and Audi's Virtual Cockpit tech. All three are CBU imports; all three offer coupe-SUV styling, advanced AWD, and luxury-performance credentials. The X6's edge is raw power (530 vs. 507 vs. 435 bhp) and that classic V8 rumble. The GLE 53 might appeal to those who want a bit more efficiency and Mercedes's newer MBUX; the SQ8 to Audi loyalists who prize quattro and a slightly lower price. The X6 M60i is the most muscular on paper and the most overtly M-branded in this trio—it's for buyers who want everyone to know they picked the hot one.
Should you buy it now, or wait?
Buy now if you want a V8 coupe-SUV with M DNA and you're ready to pay ₹1.78 crore for the privilege. BMW India Financial Services is sweetening the deal with Smart Finance: 60 percent assured buyback after three years or 10,000 km, which cushions resale anxiety (though at this price, depreciation is a given). The X6 M60i is a CBU, so there's no facelift or India-specific update on the horizon—what you see is what you get for the next couple of years. Wait if you're hoping for a plug-in hybrid or full-EV X6 variant; BMW has shown PHEV X5s globally, and electrification is coming to this platform eventually, but not imminently in India. Also wait if you think the SQ8 or GLE 53 might get a price cut or if you're eyeing the even hotter (and pricier) full X6 M Competition, which BMW could theoretically bring in later. For now, the M60i is the only X6 game in town, and it's a strong play—530 bhp, bold looks, M engineering, and a three-year window before the next wave of electrified performance SUVs arrives. If that ticks your boxes, there's no reason to hold off.
