Honda's 0 Alpha EV, spotted in Manali, will launch Q1 2027 from Tapukara with 65–75kWh battery, 450km+ range, priced ₹18–22 lakh.
Key facts
- Launch: Q1 2027
- Price: ₹18–22 lakh (expected)
- Battery: 65–75kWh LFP, 450km+ range
- Production: Tapukara, Rajasthan; exports to Japan
- Rivals: Creta Electric (₹17.99L), BE 6 (₹18.90L), e Vitara, ZS EV
Honda's first locally built electric SUV for India has been caught testing in Manali ahead of an early-2027 launch. The 0 Alpha—production version of last year's Japan Mobility Show concept—trades the City and Elevate's curves for radical boxy proportions and will be manufactured at Tapukara for domestic sale and global export, including Japan.
What the spy shots show
Production car stays faithful to the concept's edgy look: rectangular grille, slim headlamps, squared wheel arches, near-vertical tailgate with high-set U-shaped tail-lamps. Inside, a large freestanding touchscreen pairs with a smaller floating digital cluster and flat-bottomed wheel with regen paddles. Honda sensibly keeps physical buttons for climate and ventilated seats—no menu-diving for basics.
Battery, range, platform
Built on a new skateboard platform with 2700–2800mm wheelbase. Two LFP battery packs expected (65–75kWh from CATL Indonesia), the larger delivering 450km+ real-world range. Front-axle motor likely makes 170–200bhp. Kit should include ventilated seats, connected tech, flush handles, six airbags, Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise and lane-keeping.
Pricing and positioning
Honda will likely slot the 0 Alpha at ₹18–22 lakh to stay competitive against Creta Electric (₹17.99L), BE 6 (₹18.90L), ZS EV (₹18.98L), and e Vitara (expected ₹17–18L). Local assembly should help pricing and service reach. Unveiling likely at Bharat Mobility Expo 2027, sales start Q1 2027. Worth waiting if you want genuinely different design and Honda peace-of-mind—otherwise rivals are already in showrooms.
