Skoda Kodiaq RS Performance SUV Arrives in India with 2.0 TSI Turbo-Petrol
Skoda brings the high-performance Kodiaq RS to India as a CBU import, featuring a retuned 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 60 hp and 80 Nm more than the standard model, along with aggressive styling.
Skoda is set to launch the Kodiaq RS in India during June 2026, marking the arrival of the brand's first RS-badged SUV in the country. The performance-oriented variant will be imported as a completely-built unit (CBU), positioning it as a premium offering above the standard Kodiaq.
The international-spec Kodiaq RS features a significantly retuned 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 60 hp and 80 Nm more than the regular Kodiaq. This enhanced powertrain is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that sends power to all four wheels via Skoda's all-wheel-drive system. The performance upgrade transforms the Kodiaq from a practical family SUV into a more dynamic machine capable of spirited driving.
Visually, the Kodiaq RS distinguishes itself from the standard model through several design elements. The SUV features a black grille that gives it a more aggressive appearance, complemented by a redesigned front bumper with more pronounced styling. The vehicle rides on sportier-looking 20-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers visible through the spokes, emphasising its performance credentials.
Inside, the Kodiaq RS receives an all-black cabin treatment with red accents throughout, creating a sportier ambience. The front seats are specially designed with integrated headrests, providing better lateral support during enthusiastic driving. The interior retains Skoda's focus on practicality and space, with the Kodiaq's three-row seating configuration still available.
As a CBU import, the Kodiaq RS will likely command a significant premium over the locally assembled standard Kodiaq. However, it will offer buyers a more performance-focused alternative in the premium SUV segment, competing with other high-performance offerings from European manufacturers.
Skoda has confirmed the June 2026 launch window, though the exact date has not been announced. Pre-bookings are expected to open shortly before the official launch.
What it means for Indian buyers: The Kodiaq RS fills a niche for buyers seeking a practical three-row SUV with genuine performance credentials. While the CBU import route means higher pricing, it brings European performance engineering to India. Buyers get a family-friendly SUV that can also deliver an engaging driving experience. The RS badge represents Skoda's motorsport heritage, offering credibility to enthusiasts who want more than just another premium SUV.
