BMW X6 M60i Returns to India with 523 bhp V8 Twin-Turbo and Mild-Hybrid Tech
BMW brings back the X6 coupe-SUV after three years with the M60i variant featuring a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with 48V mild-hybrid, 0-100 kmph in 4.3 seconds, pre-bookings now open.
BMW has reopened bookings for the X6 coupe-SUV in India, marking the nameplate's return after an absence of more than three years. The latest facelift brings comprehensive updates across design, interior technology and powertrains, with the launch expected to take place in June 2026.
The X6 will arrive in India with the M60i performance variant, powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This powertrain combination produces 523 bhp and 700 Nm of torque, providing serious performance credentials. Power is channeled to all four wheels through BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The sprint from 0 to 100 kmph takes just 4.3 seconds, putting it firmly in sports car territory despite its SUV proportions.
The mild-hybrid system enhances efficiency and performance by providing electric boost during acceleration and recovering energy during braking. This 48V technology has become increasingly common in high-performance vehicles, helping to reduce emissions without compromising power output.
Visually, the facelifted X6 features updated styling with revised lighting signatures that give it a more modern appearance. The distinctive coupe-SUV silhouette has been sharpened without losing the fastback roofline that defines the X6. Inside, the cabin receives BMW's latest curved display interface, which combines the instrument cluster and infotainment screen into a single seamless unit running the latest iDrive system.
The X6 M60i is expected to be priced around ₹1.50-1.55 crore (ex-showroom), positioning it against rivals like the Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe, Audi SQ8, and Porsche Cayenne Coupe. BMW commenced pre-bookings through its official website shortly after showcasing the model in early May 2026.
The X6 has built a loyal following in India over the years despite its polarizing styling. The coupe-SUV format combines the practicality of an SUV with the visual drama of a coupe, appealing to buyers seeking something distinctive in the luxury performance segment.
What it means for Indian buyers: The X6 M60i's return gives performance SUV enthusiasts a compelling option with genuine V8 power in an era where such engines are becoming increasingly rare. The combination of 523 bhp, all-wheel drive, and coupe-SUV styling makes a strong statement. While the price tag is substantial, buyers in this segment prioritize performance and exclusivity. The mild-hybrid technology provides some efficiency benefits without diluting the V8 experience. For those who find the GLE or Cayenne too mainstream, the X6 offers distinctive styling that turns heads.
