Mini Countryman C Petrol Launches 17 June as First Locally-Assembled Mini in India
Mini India will launch the Countryman C on 17 June 2026 as the first locally-assembled petrol-powered Countryman. It features a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, 7-speed DCT, and is expected to be priced more accessibly than CBU variants.
Mini India is set to expand accessibility to its Countryman SUV lineup with the launch of the Countryman C on 17 June 2026. This will be a landmark moment for the British brand as the Countryman C becomes the first locally-assembled petrol-powered Mini in India, manufactured at the BMW Group plant in Chennai.
The Countryman C will be the third variant in the Countryman range available in India, joining the fully-electric Countryman Electric and the performance-focused Countryman JCW All4. By opting for local assembly, Mini aims to make the Countryman more accessible to Indian buyers through potentially lower pricing compared to the CBU (completely-built unit) import route.
Under the bonnet, the Countryman C is expected to feature a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine shared with the BMW X1 platform. While exact power figures have not been officially revealed, this engine typically produces around 136 bhp. It will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), sending power to the front wheels.
Design-wise, the Countryman C retains the familiar styling of the standard Countryman but gets distinctive touches including matte champagne-coloured accents on the grille, skid plates, side trim elements, and exterior badging. The new-generation Countryman has grown significantly, now measuring approximately 4.44 metres in length, making it more spacious than its predecessor.
Inside, the Countryman C comes equipped with Mini's signature circular 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, a Harman Kardon sound system, a heads-up display, and Level 2 driver assistance features. The cabin also benefits from improved space and practicality, addressing one of the key concerns with earlier Mini models in India.
Bookings for the Countryman C commenced in late April 2026, indicating strong pre-launch interest. Pricing is expected to be competitive, likely starting in the ₹40-45 lakh range (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable entry point into the Countryman family in India.
What it means for Indian buyers: Local assembly should translate to more competitive pricing and potentially better after-sales support. The Countryman C offers a distinctive premium SUV alternative for those seeking something different from the mainstream German options, with Mini's characteristic design flair and driving dynamics.
