India Is Developing with a Bullet Speed ,Lets Check Upcoming Highway Projects in India .Highways in India have played a vital role in transforming the road infrastructure in the country. These highways enhanced the connectivity of different states or cities in a short period of time. Road transport minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari has promised that India’s road infrastructure will be equivalent to US standards. He is putting lot of efforts to make this happen in the coming years. He actively participates to check the progress of the work.
India is rapidly developing in every sector as well as in infrastructure also. Highways are designed to connect major cities or regions. These highways are ideal for long distance journey without any hurdles.
Let’s discuss about some highways project which are coming in upcoming years.
- Dwarka Expressway
This 29 kms expressway boost the connectivity of the western part of Delhi with Gurugram. It is the first eight lane urban elevated highway. It is also known as Peripheral road. This highway comprises of 20 flyovers and bridges and underpasses. According to construction model this project is being developed in 8662 crores.
- Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
The most awaited project which will connect the national capital to the financial hub is Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. According to road transport minister the expressway will commence in February. This is 1386 kms highway which will traverse five states i.e Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The estimate cost to complete this project is around 1400 crores and this expressway will comprise of 6 lanes.
- Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway
This 17000 crore project will connect Bengaluru from Chennai and will be known as National Expressway 7. This 262kms expressway will reduce the travel time. Speed limit over this highway is set with a 120kmph.
- Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway
The brownfield and greenfield project which was announced in 2016 and came into action in 2019. This project will cut the travel time to four hours. This new infrastructure project will aim to facilitate 6 hour drive from Delhi to Katra. Now it will be easy to revered religious places like Golden Temple in Amritsar, Darbar Sahib in Taran Taran and Vaishno Devi in Katra. It will be completed by the end of 2024.
- Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
This is also called NH 72A. it is 210 kms 12/6 lane which will connect Delhi to Dehradun and will reduce the travel time as well as the distance. The cost for this project is 13000 crore. This project will come into action by January 2024. This also connects to Char Dham Highway in Uttarakhand.
- Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway
This 701km highway will connect 390 villages. The major cities which will be connected are Nagpur, Kalyan, Aurangabad, Nashik, Bhiwandi and Wardha. It will reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Nagpur for upto 8 hours. Due to covid the project had been delayed but it will be completed by July 2024. Estimated cost for completing this project is Rs.55000 crores.
- Ganga Expressway
This six-lane highway project will connect Meerut to Prayagraj. Total cost to complete his project is 40000 crores. It will cover cities like Prayagraj, Meerut, Unnao, Sambhal, Tilhar, Hapur, and Siyana. This project will be completed by the end of this year.
- Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway
This project was announced in 2010 but got finalized in 2019. This highway will run between Sardar Patel Ring Road to Dholera International Airport. It will be completed by December 2024. Total estimated cost for completing this project is 3000 crores.
- Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway
The most awaited project of Uttar Pradesh is this Lucknow Kanpur highway project. This 62 kms long 6 lane infrastructure will connect Lucknow and Kanpur running parallel to NH 27. This project also includes 3 bridges, 38 underpasses, 28 minor bridges, six flyovers. This project will boost the region’s economic growth. The estimated budget of this project is 4700 crores.
- Amas-Darbhanga Expressway
This project is also known as Gaya Darbhanga Expressway. This is 230km long connecting Gaya to Darbhanga. The expected budget for this project is 5000 crores. This will connect seven districts like Aurangabad, Samastipur, patna, Darbhanga, Nalanda, Gaya. Foundation stone of this infrastructure project will be done in 2024.
