Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Electric SUV Launch Expected in May with 543 km Range
Toyota's Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is set to launch in May 2026 with two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The larger pack offers a claimed 543 km range, pricing expected between ₹15.99-20.01 lakh.
Toyota India is preparing to launch the Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV in May 2026, marking a significant expansion of the brand's EV portfolio in the country. The Ebella is essentially a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and will be offered in three variants: E1, E2, and E3.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella will be available with two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack options. The base 49 kWh unit pairs with a motor producing 144 bhp and 189 Nm of torque, delivering a claimed range of 440 km on a full charge. The larger 61 kWh battery variant develops 174 bhp whilst maintaining the same 189 Nm torque figure, and offers an ARAI-certified range of 543 km.
Pricing is expected to mirror the Maruti e Vitara's range of ₹15.99 lakh to ₹20.01 lakh ex-showroom, positioning the Ebella competitively against rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, MG Windsor EV, and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV. Toyota's strategy leverages the partnership with Suzuki whilst maintaining distinct brand positioning.
Inside, the Urban Cruiser Ebella features a modern cabin layout with a 10.1-inch digital driver's display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional comfort features include automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and versatile rear seating with sliding, reclining, and 40:20:40 split-folding functionality.
The electric SUV's equipment list addresses practical ownership concerns in India, with DC fast-charging capability expected to replenish the battery from 20 to 80 per cent in under an hour. Toyota's established service network and reputation for reliability could prove decisive factors for first-time EV buyers.
What it means for Indian buyers: The Urban Cruiser Ebella offers a compelling entry point into electric mobility backed by Toyota's trusted brand equity. The 543 km range from the top-spec variant alleviates range anxiety for urban and highway use, whilst the expected pricing positions it competitively in the rapidly expanding affordable EV segment. Toyota's service network adds confidence for buyers concerned about long-term ownership and resale value.
